What Is Wage Loss in Workers' Comp?
Wage loss benefits replace a portion of income lost to a work-related injury. Every state pays a percentage of your Average Weekly Wage (AWW) — usually two-thirds — up to a statutory weekly maximum. Benefits continue until you either return to full duty, reach Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI), or hit the state's duration cap.
TTD vs. TPD — Which Applies to You?
Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
You can't work at all because of your injury. You receive two-thirds of your AWW (state maximum applies) for each week you're off.
Temporary Partial Disability (TPD)
You returned to work at reduced hours or a lower-paying role. You receive two-thirds of the difference between your old wage and your current wage.
